Instacart Announces Nationwide Expansion, One Year of Free Grocery Delivery in Texas and the Midwest
Instacart has always aspired to deliver groceries to every household in the US.
Expanding a service like ours is not easy. For each new market we enter, we hire hundreds of shoppers to make sure customers can order when they want. We also partner with local retailers to give our customers the ability to order from their favorite grocery stores.
We’ve spent the last few years expanding judiciously and staying laser-focused on the efficiency and economics of our business model — to make sure that it could someday support a national service.
We now believe we have such a business model, and today we’re happy to announce an exciting nationwide expansion.
Instacart, Everywhere
This week we’re bringing Instacart to Detroit, Columbus, Las Vegas, and the Rio Grande Valley area of Texas.
In the next few weeks, you’ll see us launch new markets and expand our service in states like Texas, Florida, North and South Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee. We’ll also continue to expand to more cities in Michigan and Ohio.
This is a big step towards achieving our goal of being able to deliver groceries to 80% of US households by 2018.
One Year of Free Grocery Delivery in Texas & the Midwest
But that’s not all. We also want to make it ridiculously easy to experience the full value of what Instacart has to offer.
So, starting with Texas and major new markets in the Midwest, we’re offering new customers a free year of our Instacart Express membership.
That means that these customers can get unlimited deliveries for a year, without ever paying a delivery fee. Customers can take advantage of this offer starting at the end of the week.
We think this industry-leading offer is a great way for new customers to experience the convenience of Instacart — the same convenience that our rapidly growing set of Instacart Express members experience every week.
